Jailbreak IOS 6.1.2?
The Banner Below Will Lead You To The Jailbreak Download For iOS 6.1.2
Are you one of the 7 million people out there who recently downloaded a jailbreaking tool for your iPhone 5? Or your iPhone 4s? Or your iPhone 3G? No? You are probably a teensy bit curious as to why so many Apple customers leapt on that particular train. Right? Just what makes jailbreaking so damned alluring anyway? Are you ready to find out?
When 7 million people do the same thing within a few days, it is a pop culture event of a certain significance. It would be lame if you had no idea what they were doing or why. Or how to do what they did. But don’t worry. Because we are going to lay it all out for you here. We like to take on lameness on, and destroy it like one of those doltish green pigs in Angry Birds. Ok, we may be getting a little too excited here. On with the information.
What is Jailbreaking anyway?
Jailbreaking is freeing your Apple device from the shackles of Apple. That is stating it in ideological terms. In the practical world, it is removing the constraints that Apple places on its devices. And, yes, they place them there on purpose. In all versions of their operation systems, including iOS 6.1.1 (which Apple Released). They serve various purposes though the one that most directly affects the end user is how and where you can download apps.
On a Apple device that is not jailbroken, you can only download Apple-approved apps at the iTunes Store. Jailbreak IOS 6.1.2 and that is no longer true. Cydia can then open its doors to you. At this point, we should move on to what Cydia is.
Jailbreaking has a history. A clever fellow named Jay Freeman found that his first generation iPhone could not do everything he wanted it to. So he created apps that would bring his iPhone to new levels of functionality. He turned out to be talented: his early apps sat on every top ten list of apps for the 2008. Oh, these apps are not for free. They have a price tag, just as their cousins over at the iTunes Store do.
When it became clear to the jailbreaking community that Apple intended to exert a fair degree of control over which apps their customers used, Cydia morphed into an App store for those who wanted to stretch the capacity of their Apple devices. Freeman has shepherded Cydia into a force to be reckoned with. Those 7 million who decided to jailbreak IOS 6.1.1 are all Cydia customers – occasional or rabid.
The apps of the alternative universe
You may shrug at the idea of being able to download not-Apple apps. Who cares? There are quite a few apps at the iTunes Store. At last count, there were billions of downloads from that electronic power house. So we now offer a few examples here so as to give our description of Cydia some shape.
A most handy app. MyWi turns your iPhone or iPad into a WiFi zone. If you have dreams where your laptop uses the iPhone 5 as its modem, you will like this one. It has zoomed to the top of most lists of favored Cydia apps on the Internet machine.
This app is cool not only because of its Harry Potteresque name but because it brings animated clock icons, that you can customize to your phone. Fun.
Do ringtones ring your bell? Do you change them up often? Unlim Tones is often described by those in geek land as the best ring tone app. Ever.
Are you a shutter bug? Are there thousands of photos to be rifled through on your FB page? You will be seriously into CameraTweak if so. It lets your iPhone camera do stuff that you haven’t ever thought of it doing.
It is just wrong to be expected to answer a call when you have no idea who is ringing. Am I right? I mean, it could be, well, anyone. Whozcalling will take the mystery out of the situation. And so you can answer your iPhone. Or not.
Everyone loves Pandora. It is just so simple to find the music that makes you want to dance. And the Pandora downloader will have your tunes on your iPhone before you can say “my music sucks”.
You get the idea. Sure, the iTunes Store has some fabulous apps. But they don’t have these apps. And this, our friend, is why that Cydia train is so crowded. (Man, you can hardly breath on there.)
There are a few iPhone details that we should sweep up before we leave you
Unlocked = Jailbroken?
Nope. If you unlock your iPhone, you are freeing it up so that you can sign up with any carrier, not only the officially prescribed ones. Confusion reigns around this issue but you should know that a jailbreak is not an unlock, and also that jailbreaking not unlock your Apple device.
Tethered versus untethered
You may run across some tethered versions of the iOS 6.1.2 jailbreak. You don’t want to download this version. If you do, you have to reboot the jailbreaking software after powering off your iPhone or iPad. The untethered version will just keep on humming along, oh so sweetly.
Level of difficulty
There are those that do not try to catch the Cydia train because they think it will be difficult. But it is actually easy. Install IOS6.1.1 and it will remain okay. Not for the hackers of code, like Dev Team and others, who created such iconic downloading tools as Absinthe, Greenpois0n, or RedSn0w. This latest jailbreaking tools comes to us from Evad3rs and works for IOS 6, IOS 6.0.1, IOS 6.0.2, IOS 6.1 and IOS 6.1.2. But for us.
Oh, and just before we go, know that to jailbreak IOS 6.1.2 is perfectly legal. So, if you are hearing that Cydia train sounding a little louder, a little more enticing, than it did when you started reading, jump on it. Why not?
